Unisafe Courses

UniSAFE offers a range of training programmes and consultation designed to address the needs of those who may encounter difficult and dangerous behaviours in the course of their work. Developed to support good practice and to help prevent difficult or dangerous situations arising.

UniSAFE is delivered by a team of professionals who are experienced, considered experts in their own field and maintain a high level of practice.

Work Based De-escalation Techniques

UniSAFE generic programmes are offered at six levels

  • Level 1 - One-day theory workshop
    Areas of work include Work based Violence - What is it? What is it to you?

    This is a one-day theory workshop that must be completed before you can be accepted on any of our other programmes.

    Aim of this programme includes What is Violence and who decides, Prediction of Violence, The Crisis Cycle, The Law, Beliefs Values and Attitudes, Challenging Behaviours, Stress Times, Preventing Behaviour Escalation, Legal Issues etc. All new staff are required to attend this course as soon as possible.

  • Level 2 - One, Two or Three-day Physical De-escalation Programme
  • Level 3 - One-day Advanced Physical De-escalation skills
  • Level 4 - Half or One-day 'Yearly Re-accreditation' of skills
  • Level 5 - One-day theory programme for managers aimed at developing and promoting quality services to reduce the impact of work related violence
  • Level 6 - Half-day Personal Safety programme that is aimed at staff who work closely with customers whose behaviour can be unpredictable and difficult to manage (also available to non work based clients)

Business Support

A two day course targeted at any staff working within a administrative or business support role, especially those working directly with the public, or in customer service. Covers a select combination of UniSAFE Level 1 Theory and Level 2 Physcial De-escalation.

Peer Practice Facilitators Programme

Facilitators from all agencies are nominated for further accreditation and support. Their role is to act as link between UniSAFE and their place of work and to arrange practice sessions for their colleagues on a regular basis.

All facilitators have the opportunity to attend a half-day up-date programme every year.

UniSAFE at Home

Unisafe at Home is a customer-focussed service and works with parents, carers, schools and others in the community to improve the quality of life for those who exhibit difficult and dangerous behaviours and for those who care for, or work with them.

We are able to offer training that is tailored to the needs of individual children, adults, and their families and carers.

Foster Carers

During the last few years we have worked successfully with Foster Carers in Suffolk and neighbouring counties, providing them with a range of training programmes and consultation designed to address the needs of those who may encounter difficult and dangerous behaviour from people who are placed with them. The programme links in closely with our UniSAFE At Home courses.
